Marilyn Holt-Smith

Managing Director, Marilyn Holt-SmithManaging Director Holt-Smith & Yates Advisors (Madison)

Holt-Smith & Yates Advisors, a national portfolio management firm with $1.9 billion in assets, is one of a very few woman-owned companies in this competitive field. Before starting Holt-Smith & Yates Advisors in 1987, Marilyn Holt-Smith was a Vice-President and Portfolio Manager for Madison Investment Advisors from 1979-1987 as well as an Officer and Director of Bascom Hill Funds. She received her CFA Charter in 1985, having earned both her bachelor's degree and MBA from UW-Milwaukee.

Marilyn contributes her time and skills to her profession. She is one of the founding members of the Madison Chapter of the Milwaukee Investment Analysts Society (MCMIAS), serving in a variety of roles as Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President and President. Under her presidency, the chapter grew into a full-fledged society, known as the Madison Investment Management Society (MIMS). The society is affiliated with the Association of Investment Management and Research (AIMR), which is now named the CFA Institute.

In addition to the Board of Visitors, Marilyn plays an active role on advisory boards for UW-Extension's Small Business Development Center, the UW-Milwaukee Business School, and the Meriter Hospital-based Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program. She maintains her memberships in the National Association of Woman Business Owners (NAWBO) and Tempo International.
