Jerry Johnson
Chairman and CEO Superior Edge, Inc. (Bayfield)Jerry Johnson founded his first software company, CWC-Clear with Computers, in 1983 with the goal of providing technology to help salespeople sell more effectively. Thus, he helped to create the sales-force automation industry even before it had a name. Over 15 years, CWC attracted some of the biggest companies in the world including Ford, GM, Mercedes Benz, Compaq and Hitachi, and established international offices in Canada, Europe and Asia. In 2000, CWC completed a successful IPO and became Firepod.
Johnson continues to be a pioneer in the field of e-learning, leading Superior Edge, Inc., which delivers Internet-based training and education for clients such as the Big I Virtual University. Johnson has been named as one of the 10 most influential people in the customer relationship management (CRM) field.
Johnson co-authored the study "The Bridge to a New High-Tech Economy for the Chequamegon Bay" with two UW-Extension faculty members, Tim Kane and Hans Hanson. He is a member of the Wisconsin Technology Council and sits on the board of several software companies.
He has a degree in engineering from North Dakota State University. He and his wife, Linda, reside in Bayfield.
