Digital map datasets released by Geological Survey Digital datasets derived from eleven published maps (original presentation scale: 1:100,000) are now available on CD-ROM from the Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey. Each dataset includes vector information showing geologic units and contacts in ArcInfo™ interchange format (.e00) with Federal Geographic Data Committee compliant metadata as well as an Adobe® Acrobat® PDF file of the map and any accompanying report. The CDs for Wisconsin counties include bedrock and/or Quaternary geologic data for Chippewa, Dane, Forest, Florence, La Crosse, Langlade, Lincoln, northern Oconto, Sauk, Taylor, Waukesha, and Vilas Counties, water-table elevation data for Trempealeau County, water-table and aquifer-susceptibility data for Calumet County, and water-table elevation and depth to bedrock data for Sauk County. The bedrock geologic map of the state is also available. The datasets are provided in Wisconsin Transverse Mercator based on the 1991 adjustment to the North American Datum of 1983 (WTM83/91); these datasets can be combined with other data that also have spatial coordinates. This information can be useful to those who can benefit from knowledge of the general geologic conditions of these counties—geologists, hydrogeologists, engineers, planners, developers, and so forth.
