The purpose of this program support position is to provide administrative and fiscal support to increase the capacity of Lake Superior Reserve and Wisconsin Sea Grant faculty and staff to operate more effectively in the office environment, manage budgets, and use available Lake Superior Reserve and Wisconsin Sea Grant resources (financial and personnel) most appropriately and effectively.

The Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve  is one in a network of 29 sites around the United States and its territories that comprise the National Estuarine Research Reserve System.  Reserves  conduct research, education, outreach and stewardship activities that improve the understanding of coastal systems and practice of coastal management. The Lake Superior Reserve  was designated through NOAA, and is administered through UW-Extension with a series of local partnerships. Wisconsin Sea Grant is a statewide program of basic and applied research, education, and outreach and technology transfer dedicated to the stewardship and sustainable use of the Great Lakes and ocean resources. Wisconsin Sea Grant is part of a national network of 33 university-based programs and is headquartered at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and is housed in the Aquatic Sciences Center which is part of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and the Dean of the Graduate School.   A regional office of Wisconsin Sea Grant is co-located with the Lake Superior Reserve in Superior, Wisconsin.

The Office of Financial Services (OFS) Accountant will be responsible for providing consultative support for complex transactions; serving as the primary interface for distributed leadership for financial planning and analysis support; monitoring budget projections and tracking; providing approvals for Financial Specialists work products; ensuring compliance and appropriate trainings for all types of funding; supplying policy guidance to customers and Financial Specialists on high risk, high dollar value, or complex transactions or topics; and managing grant related reporting and drawdowns. The Accountant will ensure that Financial Specialists provide timely and professional services that support the clients’ research and programmatic goals and that OFS procedures support compliance with University, State, and Federal Guidelines. The Accountant will report to the OFS Director or designee.

 

Fond du Lac County 4-H Program Coordinator

Program Coordinators also design, deliver, and evaluate research-based educational programming and services aligned with the position’s programmatic focus. Initial programming focus will include:

  • Expanding access to eligible youth, including those from low-income households. Efforts will also be made to recruit minority youth, particularly from the Hispanic/Latino population;
  • Volunteer recruitment and development;
  • Cultivating collaborative efforts and partnerships with other organizations that expand 4-H programming opportunities;
  • Working with 4-H members and volunteers to develop new 4-H programs.

Video Promotion Producer

Mike Simonson Investigative Reporting Fellowship

Wisconsin Public Radio announces an opportunity for journalists to gain valuable experience and training in investigative reporting through a year-long fellowship with WPR in collaboration with the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism.  The fellow will focus on environmental issues although other areas of coverage may be explored. -    Increase community outreach of youth development programming;
-    Expand and develop programs that help youth consider varying career/work paths, including in the STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics) fields;

This position may have a secondary focus in other UW Extension institutes such as the Community Food Systems institute and/or Community Development institute to support local educational programming.
