The Decision Support System planned in the first phase of this project consisted of four parts:

1. The Project Manager allows confidential collection and analysis of data from all project participants.
   
   • Provides printed reports for clients.
   • Supports the development of producer action plans.
   • Allows selected results to be reported to statistics server.
2. The Assessment Tool Manager is a collection of software for importing, editing and storing worksheets.
   
   • On-demand export of worksheets project manager.
   • On-demand export for printing.
3. The overall design allows online self or directed assessments.
   
   • Could direct users to general or state/commodity-specific assessments.
   • Selected results can be exported to statistics server.
   • Reports can be printed from browser.
4. A Statistics and Database Manager stores data and generates statistical reports, graphs and tables.
   
   • Uses non-proprietary/commercially available, relational database.

The most recent work showcases a collection of online assessments developed for Wisconsin. These assessments would fit into the planning stage of environmental management systems development. Available assessments include the following list. More will be completed by September 2003.

• Nutrient Management and Manure Application Practices
• Pesticide Storage and Handling
• Manure Storage for Environmental Management Systems
• Barnyard Management
• Feedlot Management
• Milking Center Wastewater Management
• Regulatory Review: Farmstead Facilities
