Wisconsin Bankruptcies Rise Sharply Despite 2005 law Designed to Reduce Filings

Bankruptcies in Wisconsin nearly doubled from 2006-2008, despite passage of the 2005 Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act by Congress. Experts believed the 2005 law would greatly reduce the total number of bankruptcies filed by businesses and individuals. However, information compiled at the county level fails to bear that out.

Poll: Many Anglers Not Aware of Laws to Prevent Spread of Aquatic Invasive Species

Many anglers in Wisconsin are not aware of laws designed to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species and protect the state's lakes and rivers, according to a recent statewide poll. Anglers had the most confusion about laws designed to stop the fish disease Viral Hemorrhagic Septicemia (VHS) from spreading between lakes and other bodies of water in the state.
