Racine County Positive Youth Development Extension Educator

This Positive Youth Development Extension Educator position will primarily serve Racine County.

The Positive Youth Development Extension Educator designs, delivers, and evaluates research-based educational programming and services aligned with the position’s programmatic focus. Initial programming focus will include:

  • Supporting the positive development of youth in their family and community environments by leading initiatives and collaborating with organizations and coalitions focused on county needs
  • Expanding access to the full range of Extension educational programming for all youth, particularly in communities that are underrepresented in youth programming such as racial/ethnic minorities and those from low-income households
  • Building the capacity of community organizations (including the 4-H Club Program) to address needs that affect youth and families, such as youth leadership, cultural competency, civic engagement, academic achievement and pathways to workforce readiness
  • Engaging youth in community development and the greater community in youth development through youth-adult partnerships (including Youth in Governance), community organizing, and resiliency practices to foster environments that support youth and community change

This individual will apply the University of Wisconsin’s research, education and outreach resources to address locally identified needs and opportunities.

Richland County 4-H Program Coordinator

This 4-H Program Coordinator position will primarily serve Richland County.

The 4-H Program Coordinator leads and manages the full range of the 4-H Youth Development programs including clubs, after school programs, educational experiences and camps. Program Coordinators also design, deliver, and evaluate research-based educational programming and services aligned with the position’s programmatic focus. Initial programming focus will include:

  • Expanding access to eligible youth, including individuals from low-income households.  Efforts will also be made to recruit youth and adult volunteers from underserved populations, particularly from Latino/Hispanic populations
  • Volunteer recruitment and development; recruiting and developing volunteers focused on helping youth develop life skills that promote ongoing community involvement and strengthen youth leadership development
  • Strengthening the 4-H program by providing leadership for marketing, communications, member recruitment and member retention
  • Cultivating collaborative efforts and partnerships with community organizations serving Richland County Youth

Bilingual Financial Education Associate Extension Educator (50%-80%)

This Bilingual Financial Education Associate Extension Educator position will primarily serve Dane County, WI. This is a 50%-80% FTE position.

The Dane County Financial Education Program enhances the quality of family and community decisions that affect  families  and to increase their abilities to adapt and effect change with their finances. The primary purpose of this position is to recruit and educate learners from the Latinx community and assist families to meet future needs while keeping pace with daily expenses.

The Associate Extension Educator delivers and evaluates research-based educational programming and services aligned with the position’s programmatic focus. The initial programming focus will include:

  • Reaching and engaging diverse audiences in ways that are inclusive to ensure full access to programs, facilities and educational services
  • Teaching culturally relevant educational programs for adults through workshops, small groups and individual consultations on the topics of budgeting, credit, and family financial management. 
  • Promoting the family financial education program with designated community agencies and maintain a positive working relationship with these agencies; follow-up on agency referrals for educational activities

The purpose of this position is to provide leadership for the Walworth and Jefferson County FoodWIse Program. FoodWIse works collaboratively with local agencies/organizations to deliver evidence-based education strategies, accompanied by policy, systems and environmental supports, designed to facilitate voluntary adoption of healthy food choices and active lifestyles for people with limited income. Nutrition education lessons relate to basic nutrition, regular low impact physical activity, food safety, and food budgeting. The Nutrition Coordinator will be responsible for staff training and supervision, program planning, implementation, evaluation and reporting, and developing and managing the local program budget. Positive Youth Development Learning Resources Outreach Specialist

The Positive Youth Development Learning Resources Outreach Specialist is an academic staff member of the University of Wisconsin-Extension, Cooperative Extension Institute of Positive Youth Development. This position will lead the coordination of discipline-based faculty and staff in order to design, evaluate, and publish high priority, innovative, and effective educational resources (e.g. training guides, curriculum, digital materials etc.) aligned with positive youth development outcomes.  Capacity building and project development will be conducted in close collaboration with state and county-based colleagues in the Community Youth Development and Wisconsin 4-H Extension Programs.

The Learning Resources Outreach Specialist reports directly to the Positive Youth Development Institute Director for management and supervision, hiring and employment authority, employment changes, compensation and benefits, supplies and expense budget, development and approval of their plan of work, and performance reviews.

Langlade County & Statewide Agriculture Research Station Program Manager

The Outreach Program Manager provides leadership for the management and operation of the Langlade Agricultural Research Station. The Research Station is operated by the University of Wisconsin Extension in partnership with Langlade County and Wisconsin potato growers. The land and facilities are owned by Langlade County and the operation of the farm is supported by the Wisconsin Potato and Vegetable Growers Association and the Wisconsin Potato Industry Board. Research is conducted by investigators from University of Wisconsin campuses and by Extension faculty and staff. The plots at the farm provide scientists and growers a research-based representation of a soil type important to potato production in the state. This position plans, implements, and evaluates research and educational programs related to the Research Station.

The Langlade Agricultural Research Station Outreach Program Manager reports directly to the Agriculture Institute Director for management and supervision, hiring and employment authority, employment changes, compensation and benefits, supplies and expense budget, development of their plan of work, and performance reviews. The Program Manager also gets guidance and input from the Area Extension Director for Area 3 relative to the Research Station partnership with Langlade County.
