Natural Resources Institute Director

The Natural Resources Institute Director is a senior level administrator who will provide organizational and cross-disciplinary leadership for the Natural Resources Institute within Cooperative Extension. This full-time role will be responsible for strategic, financial, and operational oversight of natural resources programming, including related to land, forestry, and water resources. The Institute Director provides administrative leadership in all areas of institute operations, program development, evaluation and implementation; external partnership development; development of financial resources and budgetary administration; and human resource development and administration.

The Institute Director reports directly to the Associate Dean of the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources for management and supervision, hiring and employment authority, employment changes, compensation and benefits, supplies and expense budget, development and approval of their plan of work, and performance reviews. Successful applicants will be considered for ranked faculty status, but this is not a requirement of the position.

The Small Business Development Center within the UW-Extension Division for Business and Entrepreneurship invites applications for a SBDC Business Consultant.

The Wisconsin SBDC is an accredited network of 12 offices throughout the state. Wisconsin SBDCs are funded and managed in collaboration with U.S. Small Business Administration and are part of a national network of nearly 1,000 centers.  We support entrepreneurs and business owners through no-cost, confidential consulting and business education programs.  SBDC consultants help small and emerging mid-size companies obtain financing, facilitate improvement and growth and help entrepreneurs launch successful new firms. 

This position will serve customers in the Waukesha, WI area.  The SBDC office is located within the Waukesha County Center for Growth, Inc. and this position work daily and collaboratively with the Center Executive Director.

The position will report directly to the UW-Extension Division for Business and Entrepreneurship’s Associate SBDC State Director for Strategic Operations.  This position requires extensive contact with people outside of the University, including business owners, managers and professionals; elected officials; economic development organization leaders and staff; media; and the general public.  Traveling occasionally within the state and working occasional evenings are required.  Providing or performing other related services or duties as needed will also be expected.

Associate Dean of Operations and Policy

The Associate Dean of Operations and Policy is a senior level administrator who will provide leadership in collaboration with colleagues and other administrators focused around internal and external policies and operations, while fostering an environment that is inclusive, trusting, respectful, and collegial.  This position will serve as a representative of the Dean in any and all divisional matters.

Reporting directly to the Dean of Cooperative Extension, the Associate Dean serves as a member of the Cooperative Extension Leadership team, and will help to direct the division’s strategic, operational, and financial planning processes. This position is responsible for organizing and overseeing the operational and administrative expenditures for the central administrative functions of the division, while also overseeing field operations for geographically based leadership positions. The Associate Dean provides leadership to the central operational areas of the division, to include the Office of Educational Technology Support (ETS), the Office of Communications & External Relations (OCER), the Office of Financial Services (OFS), the Office of Program Support Services (OPSS), and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, who’s goals are aligned in providing exceptional management system services to Cooperative Extension for performance management, strategic planning, hiring practices, budget management, onboarding, recording results, and information technology.

The Associate Dean functions within the broad organizational direction provided by the Dean and Director in the development and implementation of policies, and will advise on the development of program and administrative policy consistent with the University of Wisconsin System and United States Department of Agriculture/National Institute for Food and Agriculture. The position provides leadership for developing, interpreting, and applying policy within the organization and for interpreting and applying federal, state, and local policies affecting the organization.

The Associate Dean will possess a professional demeanor and demonstrate the ability to work with a diverse set of individuals using discretion, judgment, flexibility, and tact. The Associate Dean will demonstrate effective communication skills, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and will exercise judgment and skill in handling sensitive and confidential matters.
