Financial Specialist Senior

The Office of Financial Services (OFS) Financial Specialist -Senior will be responsible for providing front-line support for financial processes and transactions for Cooperative Extension (CE) employees across the state of Wisconsin. The Financial Specialist will use finance and accounting skills to perform financial support functions for customers, provide them with accurate and timely information to make decisions, and ensure efficient transaction processing in order to enhance customers’ research and programmatic goals.  Responsibilities include providing guidance and processing support for travel reimbursements (eTER), P-Card, PO, and invoice transactions for grant and non-grant expenditures; performing basic bookkeeping functions for aligned units; and providing first-level policy guidance. The Financial Specialist will serve as the primary OFS customer interface for employees in Departments, Institutes, Centers, Zones and/or Areas and support an environment of excellent customer service.  This position will report directly to an OFS Financial Manager and will support the OFS Accountants as needed.

Agriculture Extension Educator

POSITION & PROGRAMMATIC FOCUS: 
The Agriculture Extension Educator designs, delivers, and evaluates research-based educational programming and services aligned with the position’s programmatic focus.  The Agriculture Extension Educator is an employee of the University of Wisconsin Cooperative Extension within the Agriculture Institute of the Department of Agriculture & Natural Resources. The Agriculture Extension Educator is also a primary member of one of the centers within the Agriculture Institute, either the Center for Animal Agriculture, Center for Crops & Soils, Center for Farm Management, or the Center for Horticulture. If appropriate and desired, Extension Educators can affiliate with other Cooperative Extension centers in order to best address the programmatic focus of the position. 

This Agriculture Extension Educator position will serve La Crosse County. Through this position, this individual will carry out programming that directly addresses the local needs of the community and is approved by the La Crosse County Administrator, Area Extension Director for their area and Center Director.  In addition to the focus on agronomy/plant sciences, agricultural economics/farm financial management, horticulture, and natural resources, the Agriculture Extension Educator’s programs will respond to local needs, and will provide a connection to the broader University of Wisconsin research, education, and outreach resources.

ADMINISTRATIVE RELATIONSHIPS:
The Agriculture Extension Educator position is accountable to the Area Extension Director for all matters related to performance and day-to-day work activities.  The Educator is also required to prepare an annual plan of work that will be reviewed and approved by the La Crosse County Administrator, the Area Extension Director and Center Director. The Agriculture Institute administers the budget for the position. Area Extension Directors will work with La Crosse County to identify opportunities for their input on identifying programming needs and reviewing performance. 

Youth & Family Extension Educator

Youth & Family Extension Educator is an employee of the University of Cooperative Extension within the Youth & Families Institute of the Department of Youth, Family, and Community Development. The Youth & Family Development Extension Educator will be a primary member of the Center for Wisconsin 4-H and Center for Positive Youth Development. If appropriate and desired, Extension Educators can affiliate with other Cooperative Extension centers in order to best address the programmatic focus of the position. 

This Youth & Family Extension Educator position will serve La Crosse County. Through this position, this individual will carry out programming that directly addresses the local needs of the community and is approved by the La Crosse County Administrator, the Area Extension Director for their area and Center Director.  

The Youth & Family Extension Educator’s programs will respond to local needs, and will provide a connection to the broader University of Wisconsin research, education, and outreach resources.  The primary focus of the position is to work with the 4-H program and volunteers in efforts to strengthen the 4-H program, especially in the areas of youth and adult volunteer development, leadership development, marketing and member retention.  Time will also be spent on broader youth development initiatives with other program-related coalitions and collaborations to increase community outreach of youth development programming. Anticipated options for increasing positive youth development in order to meet the needs of at-risk youth in La Crosse County include afterschool programming and youth-related coalition work such as the Prevention Network, Medication Drop-off Committee and the Risky Drinking Coalition.

Overall, the program focus includes youth leadership development, volunteer development among adults and youth, community service, youth/adult partnerships and building community capacity to address needs that affect youth countywide.

Instructional Design Specialist - Environmental Resources Center

The primary focus of the instructional design position will be to work collaboratively with the Training Coordinator, Editor, Graphic Designers and Subject Matter Experts to design and develop learner-focused, performance-based learning solutions to meet project needs. The ERC is a unit within Cooperative Extension Service and the Community, Natural Resource and Economic Development (CNRED) program area.

The Environmental Resources Center works in collaboration with UW System and UW-Extension, and Cooperative Extension county based colleagues to extend the University to local residents so that they may ensure vibrant, sustainable communities with opportunities for growth and development that are equivalent or greater than those of today.  Our mission is to empower individuals and communities to make conscious, well-informed decisions about their environments and the social processes involved in caring for those environments.

Development Information Systems Manager

UW Colleges and UW Extension is seeking a Development Information Systems Manager to provide technical and strategic leadership for the first institution-wide donor/alumni database and development program.

 

The incumbent will provide technical and strategic leadership for the UW Colleges’ and Extensions’ first institution-wide donor/alumni database and development program;  will play a lead role in the selection and implementation of a database system (e.g., Raiser’s Edge or similar); and will serve as a resource to internal and external constituents regarding basic development strategies, policies, and practices related to donor data collection. S/he is responsible for application administration as well as accurate data collection, donor records, record security, and preparation of reports and analyses. The person in this position will serve as the technical liaison between administrative departments, programs, and foundations to maximize operational effectiveness and ensure staff have the tools needed to do their jobs effectively, and that donors and other constituents are communicated to in a timely and accurate manner. The Development Information Systems Manager will play a key role in a growing fundraising and development unit; and will initially report to the Chancellor.

Highly qualified candidates will have:

  • At least five years’ experience in systems and/or development operations specifically in database management systems, database reporting, and office productivity packages.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices of nonprofit, gift entry and administration, including but not limited to: donor stewardship, database administration, records management, and IRS regulations regarding charitable giving.
  • An understanding of the types of data, reports, and analyses needed to support the fundraising efforts of a large, complex nonprofit.
  • Supervisory experience highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of automated business and systems tools needed to support the efficient management of development operations. Raiser’s Edge experience is preferred.
  • Experience with reporting tools including Crystal, Excel and SQL preferred.
