Description
Communications is a statewide 4-H project. It features curriculum
that will guide you through the project. For a copy contact your

In this new beginning project for grades 3-5, engage in nonverbal, verbal, and written activities that stretch and strengthen your personal communication skills. Encrypt codes, write songs, give directions, deal with bullies, make a statement through art, and more.

In this new intermediate project for grades 6-8, become a confident communicator as you present oral reasons, plan and present speeches, communicate assertively, practice making a good first impression, mentor others, and more.

In this new advanced project for grades 9-12, polish your communication skills and develop a public presence by speaking in public, exploring communication careers, writing résumés, interviewing for a job, developing presentations, dealing with anxiety, and more.

County 4-H Ambassador Program
Many counties offer Teen Ambassador programs to help promote
4-H. Check out the Ambassador and Advisory Guidebook for
common Ambassador roles and responsibilities, profiles of county
Ambassador programs, and a number of Ambassador tools. Ambassadors
are trained locally and may attend Wisconsin
4-H Youth Conference for further training. The conference, for
youth in grades 8-10, is scheduled each June at the UW-Madison campus.
Contact your county Extension office for details.

4-H members in 3rd - 5th grade learn about music, drama, visual arts, arts and crafts, juggling and more!
Wisconsin 4-H Arts Camp
If you are in grades 6-8, sign up for the Visual Arts Track
at the next 4-H Arts Camp. Youth in grades 9-10 who are experienced
in the visual arts project can serve as instructors and counselors
at this camp, scheduled each October at the Upham Woods Environmental
Education Center, Wisconsin Dells.

Lab
If you are a new or emerging youth or adult visual arts leader,
sign up for the Visual Arts Track at the next 4-H Arts Leadership
Lab, scheduled each fall.

State Fair Formal Demonstrations
To be or not to be! You can be heard and seen giving a demonstration
at the next state fair. A formal demonstration involves a prepared
speech, shows how to do something, follows steps, uses posters and
other props, and lasts approximately 10 minutes. Look for latest
information under Wisconsin State Fair Youth Expo.

County Fair
The county fair . . . what a great time it is! Every summer, families
flock to county fairs to see the latest 4-H project exhibits. Exhibiting
is a fun and educational way for youth to showcase their project
work to judges and to the public.
Judging materials are supported by Bill Shaw in memory of his wife, Shirley.
