Peanut Butter Mountain Training and More!
Date: Wednesday, August 15th
This training will enable workshop participants to lead Peanut Butter Mountain sessions at Upham Woods for three years, though, yearly refreshers are required as is current First Aid and CPR certifications. The training will cover the goals and standards of low ropes challenge courses, policies and safety procedures for Peanut Butter Mountain, and group processing methods. Participants will learn some group initiative games and participate in Peanut Butter Mountain elements. The evening program will focus on idea sharing between group members. You may participate in the evening program WITHOUT participating in the PBM training. See the registration form (below), for the details.
11 am Peanut Butter Mountain training begins
12:30 am Lunch
1:15 - 5:00 pm Peanut Butter Mountain training continues
5:30 pm Dinner
7 pm Optional Evening Programs: group sharing of ideas/resources for class trips to Upham Woods; recreational activities such as canoeing/kayaking; in depth look at Upham classes (raptors, reptiles/amphibians, aquatic macroinvertibrates, etc); or something else! Once registration is complete for this day, we’ll be sending out a request for participants to indicate how this time can best be used.

Let's Get Our Kids Outdoors! Teacher Training In service
We are holding a teacher training in service at Upham Woods this August! We have two days of programming scheduled. All teachers, K-12, are welcome to attend. Participants may attend either or both of the days. This training is co-sponsored by Wisconsin DPI.
Day 1, Thursday, August 16th:
A day filled with hands-on workshops to help teachers integrate outdoor education into their curriculums. A key not address will be provided by the Aldo Leopold Foundation. Teachers will be able to participate in two of the following workshops:
- The "Why" and "How:" Research, Techniques and Best Practices for Teaching Outdoors
- Facilitation Group Activities for Life Skill Development
- Green Ribbon Schools
- A Practical Experience in Living History Programs
- Integrating Residential Environmental Education Trips Into Your Curriculum
Day 2, Thursday, August 17th:
Participants will be trained in the Project WET 2.0 and Project WILD DNR curriculum. All teachers will leave with copies of the curriculum, lots of great ideas to integrate the curriculum within existing classroom lessons, and load of other free stuff!
