Ownership and Permissions for UWEX Cooperative Extension Materials:

SEEKING PERMISSION TO USE UWEX COOPERATIVE EXTENSION MATERIALS

  1. If I’m a UWEX Cooperative Extension employee, who do I contact?
  2. If I’m not from UWEX Cooperative Extension, who do I contact and what should I include in my request?
  3. Are licensing agreements available?
  4. Is it okay to link to the UWEX Cooperative Extension?

1. If I’m a UWEX Cooperative Extension employee, who do I contact?

Check with the author first. If the author is unavailable, contact the Program Leader or Cooperative Extension Publishing’s Operations Manager, pam.devore@uwex.edu, phone: (608) 263-2770.

2.  If I’m not from UWEX Cooperative Extension, who do I contact and what should I include in my request?

Contact Cooperative Extension Publishing’s Operations Manager: Pamela DeVore, Cooperative Extension Publishing, 432 N. Lake Street, Room 103, Madison, WI 53706, pam.devore@uwex.edu, phone: (608) 263-2770.

She will need to know:

  • What you are requesting to use.  The title and creation date or publication date of the work, and the portions or pages (please be specific) of the work you wish to use.
  • Who is requesting permission.  Your name and affiliation.
  • How the material will be used.  Please provide the title of the work in which the material will appear. Include the purpose and the intended audience.
  • When and how often the material will be printed/produced.  The approximate print/production date and whether a reprinting/remastering of the product is planned.
  • How the material will be distributed.  Where, how (print, electronic or both), how many copies, and estimated price of the publication/media in which the requested text, images, etc., will appear.

3.  Are licensing agreements available?

A limited number of license agreements are available for specific products. 4. Can I link to UWEX Cooperative Extension?

For nonprofit educational institutions, we are pleased to grant permission to users who would like to provide a link on their web site to the UWEX Cooperative Extension web site and pages contained within. However, we do not grant permission to upload any of the UWEX Cooperative Extension materials on other web sites. We ask that you take advantage of the permission to link instead. For all other institutions, groups or individuals, seek permission.

Since UWEX Cooperative Extension does not control links to external web sites or other resources, we do not guarantee availability. UWEX Cooperative Extension is not responsible or liable for any content, advertising, products or other materials from external sites or resources.
