Ashland County 4-H and the Chequamegon Archers will co-sponsor a summer archery series for youth. The series will start with an organizational meeting on May 13th (6pm) at the Chequamegon Archers range off of Toll Rd on the East Side of Ashland. 4-H Shooting Sports Leader, Curt Ellson, will talk about the series and answer questions, schedule the shooting nights based on parent and archer feedback, and there may be some time for shooting to cap the meeting off. The series will last 10 weeks (meeting once a week) and include arrow, string, and quiver making as well as shooting coaching on the target range and walking courses. Those youth who are interested will have the opportunity to shoot in a competition or two. A limited amount of equipment is available to loan. Long bows, re-curves, and compound bows are welcome! If you have questions or would like to sign up, please call Curt Ellson at 682-0450 (days). The materials fee will be $10 for the series. Scholarships are available. Youth will keep the arrows, strings, and quivers that they make.
