Green
County Barn Quilts
Quilts, always a beloved symbol of comfort, family, heritage and community will provide a warm invitation to the rural countryside of Green County. Vibrant quilt patterns will be painted on pre-built 8’x8’ wooden squares. Each quilt will be painted by a team of volunteers and will require a willing barn owner to donate hanging space on their building. Making these quilt squares will allow volunteer groups from churches, schools, 4-H, scouting, HCE, and other community service groups and even families the opportunity to create and paint their own quilt square as a group project. Read more about Green County's project at www.greencountybarnquilts.com or contact Cara Carper, Green County UW-Extension by email or at 608-328-9441. |

Future Forward! Green County
Green County is a Great Place
to Visit and to Live!
Future Forward! Green County was formed to help get that message out and help ensure the future is bright for Green County, its communities and the surrounding area. Four main working groups (or committees) have formed and meet regularly to help guide this effort. The Leadership Committee strives to provide the overall strategy and vision for Future Forward! Green County. The Boomerang Committee strives to decrease the "brain-drain" and bring home former residents of Green County. The Community Liason Committee works to coordinate the efforts of Future Forward! Green County with the many existing groups and efforts already at work in Green County. The Poral Committee is effectively the technology arm of Future Forward! Green County. Read more about Future Forward! Green County or contact Cara Carper, Green County UW-Extension by email or at 608-328-9441. |

First Impressions
In this community improvement program volunteers from two similar communities (size, location, county seat, etc.) agree to do unannounced exchange visits and then report on their findings. Participants became "secret shoppers" for the day to discover what they can about their sister city. They follow procedures and reporting guidelines in a fully developed manual, which is copied for each participant. The manual helps insure that the evaluations and reports are thorough and somewhat uniform and minimize the training of volunteers. To learn more click here.
A number of Green County communities have engaged in First Impressions exchanges. To review those reports, visit the First Impressions webpage. |
