MISSION

UW-Extension 4-H Youth Development integrates research, education, and community-based partnerships, enabling youth to learn and practice skills to be productive citizens.

4-H is a volunteer-led organization that reaches boys and girls through small groups called clubs. 4-H members decide for themselves which projects they want to learn more about. Membership in a 4-H Club allows a young person to develop the skills and confidence that will guide him through life and help mold him into an active member of the community.

4-H has come a long way -- today the club emphasizes the development of a civic-minded attitude with special care given to personal growth. Today's youth will ultimately become tomorrow's adult leaders and 4-H's goal is to help prepare them to run the community for the next generation.

4-H in Iowa County is open to any youth currently enrolled in school through one year out of high school.

  • In September 2005, four schools in Iowa County participated in the Iowa County Search Survey. The information gained through these surveys will be helpful to parents, schools and communities as they look at ways to nurture caring and responsible children and adolescents. Several newsletters have been published with survey results.
