The Oconto/Marinette
County UW-Extension Nutrition Education Program works with community,
state and federal organizations designing and presenting nutrition
education programs. We help low income elderly, families and youth
learn to make food choices that are consistent with the Dietary
Guidelines for Americans and the Food Guide Pyramid. We help them
manage their food resources and use thrifty shopping practices
to purchase nutritious foods, and we teach about safe food handling,
preparation and storage practices.
Our educational efforts
are targeted toward limited income audiences in Oconto and Marinette
County. We are available to conduct educational programs which
benefit these audiences, or offer an opportunity to promote an
understanding, recognition and strengthening of the needs of the
Food Stamp Eligible Population.
