TEAMING
UP WITH COMMUNITIES TO MEET THEIR CHALLENGES
The community, natural
resources, and economic development programs of the Cooperative
Extension (one of four divisions in the University of Wisconsin
- Extension) help Wisconsin residents build strong communities,
attract and keep jobs, and balance growth and environmental quality.
Backed by University
of Wisconsin research, Extension educators work with local governments,
civic organizations, businesses, and community leaders to help
people identify critical local concerns, set goals, and work on
solutions.
Acting as facilitators,
planners, and researchers, Extension educators help with:
- Land use and Smart Growth initiatives
- Natural resource and water quality issues
- Local government interaction with the public
- Community decision making
