Vilas County sponsors several special recycling collections in partnership with Oneida County (see table below). Vilas County residents wanting to dispose of hazardous waste and recyclables can do so year 'round at the Oneida County Landfill on Highway K outside of Rhinelander.

- See collection schedule on this page for upcoming drop-off dates and locations for pharmaceuticals.
- Don't ever flush medications down the sink or toilet.
- Store any expired or unwanted medications in a locked cabinet or at least out of reach of children and pets .
- Keep drugs in original containers with the patient name and other personal identification information marked over with a permanent marker.
- Bring containers to drop-off site.
Note: MIXED OR UNIDENTIFIED MEDICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. SHARPS, LANCETS AND CHEMOTHERAPY AGENTS CANNOT BE ACCEPTED.
- If drop-off opportunities have passed, you can dispose of a small amount of pharmaceuticals by putting water into the vial, taping it shut and disposing of it in the trash. If you have a large amount, we recommend storing them until next year's drop-off collection.
