The first years

This program is all about babies and their brains!
It is a curriculum developed by Karen Hintz and reviewed by Gay Eastman and Dave Riley.

"The First Years Last Forever" is an educational package, which incorporates the brain development research with strategies parents, grandparents and caregivers can use to protect and promote the development of children's growing brains.  The educational package includes a trainer's guide, participant guide, evaluation/feedback form and options for using the educational package.  The trainer's guide includes objectives, teaching resources, sources of information, a teaching outline with activity ideas and sample overheads.
 

Objectives
The objectives of this program are to help parents, grandparents and caregivers:
· Gain a basic understanding of recent research findings about brain development.
· Identify and discuss implications for parenting young children.
· Learn ways to promote positive brain development and utilize that knowledge to help
strengthen a child’s brain development.
