The Professional Certificate in Online Teaching (PCOT) offers a foundation of key principles and best practices in online teaching. At your pace and on your own schedule, you'll develop the knowledge and skills for being a successful online instructor.
What is different about teaching online?
Teaching in the online environment involves much more than putting course materials into an online format. Most instructors find that the pacing, organization of content, and types of activities need to be different when delivered online. With the right background and planning, the online teaching experience can be as rewarding and engaging as the face-to-face classroom, if not more so.
How this program will help you
The PCOT program prepares you for teaching online by providing knowledge and skills, examples, and best practices. You'll have the opportunity to practice and demonstrate what you've learned in a course planning project that uses your own course materials. You'll learn about:

Those with some previous online teaching experience also will benefit by broadening perspectives and deepening understanding of online teaching strategies.

Survey online course models and principles and gain hands-on experience planning your own course in this self-paced (enroll anytime) offering. Complete the PCOT foundation course, 0136 Fundamentals of Online Teaching to earn 3.0 CEU (representing 30 hours of study and project development) and receive a certificate confirming your continuing education achievement.
